Chatur grew up in Solukhumbu, Nepal – the same district where the trails to Everest begin. He started working in the mountains in 1995, and he's been there in some capacity almost every year since.
The numbers tell part of the story: 8 Everest summits. 8 Manaslu summits. 187 Elbrus summits, including 55 in winter. He's also summited Kangchenjunga, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Aconcagua, and Kilimanjaro – along with more than 40 ascents of Mera Peak and Island Peak combined.
But the part that doesn't show up in a summit count is the decision-making. Decades of reading weather, managing group dynamics at altitude, calling turnarounds when conditions shift, and getting people home safely. That's the experience that actually matters when you're trusting someone with your expedition.
In 2015, Chatur survived the Nepal earthquake while on Annapurna IV. He was back on Everest the following year, and summited Manaslu later that same season.
He founded Chatours Treks & Expeditions in 2017 to run expeditions the way he believed they should be run – with honest communication, careful planning, and leadership that stays present from first day to last. Today he splits his time between Sochi, Russia (where he guides Elbrus year-round) and Nepal (where he leads Himalayan expeditions each season).
